I did that with my 02 DSG when I was going to get new tires. The old ones were bald anyway.

Since the new tires are on, no more smoking the tires. Gotta get mileage over smoke density.

Ya, dudes at work are always buggin for me to do burnouts -- I figure $15 per occurance should cover tire cost but the cheap bastids won't pay. No pay no play.

I did the same thing. I was getting new tires on my truck so I did a ton of burnouts when I was in the local 4th of July parade with my off-road club. My truck really doesn't have the horsepower that thing does, so mine was a lot less spectacular. I was in a parade, so I was doing a burnout creeping along at parade speed for a little while with the local cub scout troop marching behind...

They were cheering, and none of the passed out or anything so I guess it was okay. It was a real crowd pleaser. The tires had about 40k on them, and I practically had slicks after the parade.

That was the only time I ever really did a long burnout.
