Noob at AMA at Infinion
This weekend I went to my first cycle race at Infinion for the AMA SuperBike Races. Wow was it fun!!!
Besides the fun of walking through countless vendors and guawking at sweet custom rides, the racing was intense and exciting. I sat along the long stretch before turn 10. Right infront of me, the riders came off a little downhill (6th gear) where some guys were airing it out and landing just in time to slam the brakes for a quick right/left chicane(sp?). I was fascinated by all the action that happend in this short segment of the track. Some guys landed soft and easily down-shifted twice to a smooth entry to the chicane. Others were landing of the hill with a serious wable, only to be followed by smoking rear tire (if they could still hold the turn). Dirt-trackers.
As well, it was interesting to compare the gear changes before this turn too. Most would go down 2 or 3 gears. A couple of guys were going through 4 or even 5 gears. It was a trip.
????? Why weren't there any Hondas in the Supersport class???? The other big three were all over it, but no Honda.
Anyways, as an equestrian competitor, I can appreciate the high level of standards that float around those pits. It was amazing to see the level of respect and poise that Miguel Duhamel receives and gives. I had a chance to meet some of his crew. One guy was counting the minutes for his wife to deliver their first baby. But he was hoping it would be after the race so he could be there to help Miguel. No that's loyalty and dedication.
Just thought I'd share this fun experience.

I also went, and it was incredible!! I was sitting at multiple places, the main grandstand, on top of the turn 2 hill, and other spots as well. The Superbike race on Sunday, I was on the hill ( turn 2) watching Niel Hodgson spinning the Ducati tire and sliding in a cloud of smoke lap after lap chasing Jake Zemke on the CBR1000RR..
It was a great time and I go every year!!
