Default Who stole my oil?

So I did my first oil change on the new 07 600RR, and everything seemed to go according to plan. I put a little over 3 quarts in, took it around the block a few times, checked the oil, and noted that it was about 3/4 up the window, so everything was cool. We had a week of bad weather, so the bike sat in the garage for that time, without being run. I took it out after that for maybe 40 miles, got it back in the garage, and noticed that there was no oil in the check window whatsoever. There was no puddle of oil in the garage, nor where I had it parked while I was out. I ran a finger around the filter, and there was no residue. I let it sit a few hours, and checked again, with the same results. I dumped the remainder of the 4th quart in, ran the engine for a few minutes, turned it off, waited a few min and checked the oil again, but the window is still empty. I checked the two SV650's in the garage, and their oil windows have oil right in the middle, and one of them hasn't been used since last summer. I've been usng the bike quite a bit since then, with no ill effects, no weird noises, no puddles, no pressure light, nothing at all odd.

Am I checking the oil wrong? Where is it going?

i think that a smerf is stealing your oil to use it on the smurfette.

Jk.. are you checking the oil correctly? When checking the oil your not suppose to have it on the side stand, but instead have someone hold up the bike so its balanced and you can check it from their. Also try to check the oil on a flat area so you get a more accurate reading.

Just a guess, but I'm going to say you had an air pocket, maybe in the oil filter.
The difference between oil not in the sight glass and oil 3/4 full can be very little.

Just a guess though... all of my other idea's were already taken.. except for bigfoot... I hear he likes his hair slicked back.

Chupamotos...thats funny.
Op, did you fill the filter with oil before you installed it? If not that could create the air pocket Squid was talkin bout.
