As far as bikes going up....supply and demand...if more people are wanting them, I can see them raise it $500...if they contine to sell as good...another $500...its the same way with harleys....$20k for a harley...no thanks I think I'll buy me a nice car, but to alot of people there dream bike is a harley....so they will pay it.
N8 dawg, the payment is $86 because your friend didn't take out a real loan on the bike, those are "minimum payment loans" (I'm sure there is another name for it, but this way is easy to wrap your mind around). If he has a 0% APR Loan (which you don't usually get on motorcycles...) he will pay for it for 98 months before it's paid off in full...that's 8 years. If there's any kind of interest rate on the bike, he will likely never even make a payment on the bike, it will all be 100% interest payments. Several finance companies do this to attract people who can't afford the regular, realistic payments.
I think there allot in difference of pricing between the various motorcycle manufacturers. We all know harley is expensive. How can Harley be so expensive...I think it really should be, how are our bikes so cheap? The constant R&D that goes into them year after year to be competitive is amazing, but they are still way cheaper than a technologicaly dissadvantaged Harley (or another brand really) Honda makes more than motorcycles...cars, generators, even damn lawn equipment, they make profit from everything....when you consider other makers, and how diversified they are in their product, all they make are motorcycles. I think any manufacurer or business for that matter will make as much profit as possible, they'll bleed a stone, and up the price as much as the market will bear. I can think of only one or two companies that keep the customer in mind and really, really keep prices to a minimum. Just my humble .02 anyway.
Here in Malaysia, price is still the same for new bike but had hit up for secondhand's. I had been offered more recently than what I bought my 900 2 years ago.
Still the bike price here is crazy like hell!
