Default a different exhaust question

i am lookin for a new exhaust for my bike 06-1k and i have been lookin at pipes most of the day when not workin. so here goes my questions.

1. i noticed on website the part number are the same between the 600 and 1000 but a 400 price increse for the 1000 why ?

2. do i have to buy a pipe made for my bike or can i get a d & d made for 929..(just using this as an example ) ?

i know i might get flamed but i want to know why they don't work.

I think the can is the same for the most part, but the mid-pipe and mounting brackets are what is specific. If your crafty, give it a shot, or if you have a buddy who has a 929, measure up his mounting points and give it a whirl. Depending on what your looking for, I saw that pipes (slips ons) were pretty much standardized across the board for prices, all in the same ball-park though, say 4-5 hundred or so, regardless if it was a 600 or 1000. I have the same bike and got an Arrow slip-on for 365 shipped if I remember right, I thought it was a pretty good deal, and that was from indysuperbike.com FWIW

Only buy a pipe made specifically for your bike. A 929 can will not work at all, neither will any other just go with what is designed for your bike, you will be much happier.
