Default diff between 600 and 1k?

I hear that 600 bikes corner better than the liter bikes is that because of a shorter wheel base on a 600?

i remember an interview with yamaha's jason di salvo, he had just gotten off of the r6, and was in a rush to prepare to race the r1 in a couple hours. he was saying that the 600cc class bikes are more compliant to steering inputs and weight transfer, and the literbikes feel as if you have to hustle them a little more. i can pretty much promise you that i am not that great a rider to where i could perform noticibly better on either bike in the corners. lol

IMPO i would say that most of us will never push either bike to its full potential to where it will be that great of a differience . thats just me thought im still learning to ride my 600 and i know for a fact the bike has alot more in it then ive taken it . so im happy with how my bike performs. but everyones different and has their own opinions so to each his own

IMO its prolly several things....1st the bikes weigh less... second the engine is smaller and more compact allower for narrower fairings and better mass centralization...third i dont know but i could prolly think of something. The wierd thing is is that the literbikes are the ones that handle better in motogp. The 600's dont have the power to break loose the uber sticky tires coming out of turns and it can be very dangerous so they are using nt as good last gen literbike tires aroudn the track to help solve the issue.

Bull **** they don't .....I highsided my bike doing exactly this, given the tires were cold but i bet you could break them loose if you tried ina turn.

Yea im sure you could break them loose in a corner.

As for the 600-1000 thing
The 600s are easier to corner with, I think. I ride both most of the time because friends let me.
It feels like the 600s will hook right into the corner really fast and you can swithc from side to side very easily. The 1000s will do almost the same but you can tell its a little bit harder to switch from side to side when in S curves. Thats the only thing I noticed about the handling between the two.

The problem that liter bikes have when entering corners is that they carry much more speed into them versus the 600. Because of this, they must brake much earlier. since the 600 can brake later, it can go deeper into the corner, thus, out cornering the 1000, but really, both bikes corner very well. if the road and speed were the same the 1000 can power out of it much better than the 600, but as we all know, 1/2 of cornering is entery speed. the later you can brake and keep your line, the better.

basicly it boils down to a speed thing. most 1000cc bikes are just ever so slightly heavier than their 600cc brothers, so the transition argument i don't buy.
