Parent's house, parent's rules. Move out or suck it up. 19 isa tough age as you are an adult but still living under house rules. No one on the forum can get involved in your family dynamic.
This is 100% correct.

Sorry, I know it sucks for you, but it's true. Please don't disrespect your Dad by lying. Play by the rules and everyone wins. One day you may have a 19 year old son living at home ... then you will understand.

why are you guys telling this kid to undermind his parents? how would you feel if your kid went out and did that.

hell if you were my kid and brought a bike home id lock it up.

not only that but you are teaching someone they dont need to obey the rules and if they dont obey there parents rules why obey the rules of the road.

im sure our parents didnt want any of us having sex when we were younger we were supposed to wait untill we got married right? how many people actually waited untill they got married to do it? just because a parents doesnt want something doesnt mean they wont understand afterwards and be more open to it now that its happened .. its the same thing with the bike. he is a legal adult, he took the msf class and got his licence, he bought protective gear. he has shown that he is mature enough to make responsible choices and what if his dad is just a no pleasing hard *** who didnt want him joining the soccer team instead to play football just liek he did when he was younger..(you think he should give up whatHE wants just to please his DAD because its what his DADWANTS?) there is no reason this kid has to give total control of his life over to his parents. he is allowed to make choices and live with the consequences.

till he moves out of his parents house his parents have control over his life. if your judging people what they say on the internet and not knowing them in person, then i own a 07 z06 have 50g in my pocket and 3 thousand dollar sneekers on.

there maybe more to this kid that his parents know that you dont. i have one freind that is very responsible and wants a bike but he is a tottal spaz cant even drive a 5speed would you want to see him on a bike???? you cant judge someone by what they say on the internet and just being resposible isnt enogh to ride a bike.

and you cant sit there and say that he has to follow he parents rules. what if his dad (no offense) is like a druggie who is strung out all the time or he beats on him should he still listen to his dad about getting a bike then ?

my previous post still holds up. kids do things that **** their parents off and then the parents get over it. TRUE i dont know the OP . might there be more to this situation YOU BET YOUR *** THEIR IS. THERE IS ALWAYS 2 SIDES TO EVERY STORY. but to sit here and say unequivicaly(sp?) that his dad is right he shouldnt own a bike isnt fair. he deserves the right to ride if hewants. he needs to sit down with his dad and work out the other issues that are really causing the problem here and only him and his dad know what those are.

you win

never said his dad was right. i said under his dads roof his rules. he wants to move out and buy a bike then well then to bad for his dad. and if his dad is a abusive drugy i hope he does move out asap and im sure if he could afford a bike and his dad was an abusive druggy he would have moved out.

what i said is its fed up for you guys for telling this guy to go behind his fathers back and get a bike after his father told him not to. and if you want to messure responsiblity how responsible of him was it to go buy gear after his dad said no or to take the msf .

listen im not saying i dont want to see the kid get a bike but its stupid to put a bike between him and his dads relationship for one. second to go behind his back is another.

but hey you win. you want to tell some kid to not listen to his parents thats fine. i hope your kids listen to you and not some strangers on the internet.

Parents house, parents rule, otherwise he can move the hell out...like that would happen. Doesn't matter what the father does, it'shis pad.

It's a bunch of forum hot air...There will be no bike.

i guess i was just fortunate enough to grow up in a house where i was allowed to have ideas and opinions on matters that effected me. my parnets never once threatened me with "my house my rules" and in fact me and my parents get along very welland our relationship is one of mutual respect and understanding.

i feel sorry for anyone who had to grow up in a house where someone would have the mentality of
