Yeah I hear what you are saying, the road was dead straight and was a back road, the only way of really protecting yourself is by going pass every junstion at like 20mph, this aint going to happen.
But you can ask yourself a million times what if I did something different but at the end of the day if someone pulls out in front of you giving you roughly 20 metres gap at any speed you will stuggle to stop.
And yeah it is down to us to ensure that we are seen, how many times do you hear of car drivers being hurt when in collision with a bike?
But at the end of the day I am ok and thats all that really matters - lesson learnt.

J/K. Sorry to hear about your accident. Get a lawyer. You will have permanent injuries that her insurance needs to pay for. Also, try to get non-economic damages.

ALWAYS expect the unexpected to happen. You were hoping she would see you and that is a mistake...but you know that already. I think all things considered, you kept your wits about you and made the best of a potentially horrific situation, so kudos for that. I am glad you are okay, and am sorry to hear about the bike and all the b.s. that comes with dealing with your current situation. I'm 100% sure you will be covered for the bike and medical expenses (the lawis on your side), but nothing could replace you...and you are here posting about your accident. That is great news!!!

DAMN!!!!!!!! I hate when people say, "i didn't see you".....Hell I see a cat trying to cross the street hwo can people miss a 400lb bike with a 150-200 lb person on it...? WTF!!!!!!!! When i drive I see everything. kids playing, other cars, the squirrelspro-creating on a tree branch, i see it all!!
Aye no shieet. I see house sparrows on the road whether in a cage or my bike. Some drivers are just not skilled enough to be on the road.

I too like to change lanes inside my lane. Keep from being bored I guess.

Seems like sooner or later everyone will be posting theirs . Posted mine 3 weeks ago.

Get well fast.

UPDATE,

The womans insurance contacted me today saying that she has admitted liability and that they want to make sure I am compensated ASAP, they have got someone looking at the bike in the next few days, are going to replace my helmet and all of my leathers, are going to compensate me for loss of overtime payments, and will arrange for a Dr to come and see me to access my injuries for compensation purposes - so on that front everything is going smoothly, just hope I get the money the bike is worth.

Wow, that's great to hear. Around here, insurance always jacks around until someone gets pissed and starts ranting over the phone. Should be a big chunk outa that new F4i cost.

Do not settle until you are medically cleared by your own doctor and have no lingering injuries or bruising. (completely healed.) I know you want this behind you, but the insurance company can make partial checks to cover your lost time at work without closing the case if that is what you are worried about. The last thing you want to happen is for the sore back or whatever to stay sore.

BTW, glad you are still around, but have to agree with the poster who said you could have avoided it. In your own words you mentioned you thought they would stop, so you coasted. I'd bet anyone even in a car would have slowed. Maybe not to avoid hitting that car, but if you have to stop fast, you never know who might hit you from behind.
