be careful guys
exactly. it blows my mind how many people get bikes and think they are toys and just get on them and zoooooooom away not havin the slightest clue as how to handle that first corner or survive the 3rd one!
its because of people like "the kid" thatya can sorta look at sportbikes as living in dog years.....7 times as likely to die soon than live its life out .....so if a bike has like lets say 10k on it thenya can kinda look at it as having 70k of equivalent miles of a sports car....does that make sense?
i bet if "the kid" started out on aliter bike he would be dead now! jeebus allah buddha knows that if i woulda started out on my 929 id prob. be dead lol i went the rode my friends 92 cbr 600 for awhile then bought a 92 ninja zx-6 (it got killed by a minivan turning left on me....minivans; true enemy#1) then got a 95 zx-7 kept that till 2005 and got my 00 929 in 04 do i get points for goin up in numerical value and switchin to honda hmm lol
oh did any of you read the articleabout the bike that hit a suv in florida aboooooouuut oh 2 3 weeks ago and hit it so hard it flipped the suv on its side!!! i could find it again maybe but daayyyyyyyummmmmmthats insane PLEASE BE CAREFUL people

Its funny that whenever someone suggests that a modern 600 is too much bike for a noob, every rider that didn't crash while learning on their 600 posts about how 'if you respect it...' or 'ride within your limits...'
The only time I get irked at the people on this forum is whensomeone says that they are getting a 07600RR as their first bike and nobody that knows better will explain why it is really just dumb. Lets face it, most 18 year old kids can barely drive their cars safely let alone a sportbike, and those of you than can drive their cars with any realability then I apoligize for my remarks.

........i dont want this to turn into a full on debate, but feel like this in a way is directed towards my last comment in the new riders portion of the forum that followed yours......i dug this up in a 600RR thread from a while back, this is my reply about getting a 600cc bike as a starter.....
"i dont understand the big deal w/ 1st timers buying 600cc bikes. my 1st bikeis a '01 F4i and i had NEVER riden a bike besides the MSF course...........and i took that in '05, bought my bike in '07! i have had no accidents, not really even any close calls. i think it is all up to the rider. if you can control yourself and deal w/ the weight of the bike, then go for it. i could completely see a 4 page arguement if a 1st time rider was trying to get a 1000cc bike, or a ZX-14....but a 600cc?!
maybe i just have alot of selfcontrol. i learned my lessons early on as a late teen how being dumb on the road can **** your insurance (and in a way, your life) up for a long time. i think a 600cc bike is fine for a starter bike, ASLONG as you have selfcontrol and can deal w/ the bikes weight"
and im going to toss in a quote from transambird in that same thread.....
"No matter what bike ya get just don't try to ride like you been doing it for 5 years within the first week. Take a MSF course soon. It helps. Don't try to keep up with the pack in the curves. I know everyone says a 600 is little, but the acceleration on a bike is nothing close to a high end street car. My TA holds nothing in comparison to my bike. I got the rr. Ya runs better than an f4i IF you can ride. The rider makes the bike go fast not the other way. What ever you do wrap your *** in some leather and don't loose your head"
saying 600cc is too much for a new rider reminds me of all of my harley riding dumbass co-workers that TRUELY believe you can die on a sportbike yet will tell you to your face a harley wont kill you. you can die on either bike! i would w/o a doubt honestly recommend a 600cc machine to any of my friends. but i ALSO highly recommend and stress the MSF course before purchasing. i preach gear and all that great stuff aswell.
95camero, sorry to hear about that. but you learn from your mistakes, as im sure he did.
Fryer, again...hopefully i didnt irk ya. but i feel the same when i read about how people shouldnt buy 600's as a 1st bike. no hard feel'ns
BE SAFE OUT THERE!

please dont underestimate these machines there very dangerous.

This is one of the endless debates. I think this: a person with no common sense will fail at many things. A person with no sense of self preservation will have a better chance at getting hurt or killed than me.There is also 'luck" involved. I consider myself a safe rider, but there is always a risk. You add to that risk by being reckless. Beassmart as you can be...that is the best you can do.
yeah the newer 600's have a lot more power...poor F4i though. still be running if itwerent for that kid. i started on a 99 dirtbike myself..then got my hurricane...and yeah the hurricane is 1000cc its powerfull but in terms its not as powerfull as the newer 1000's weight alone the hurricanes weigh more then the GSX1300R if i remember correctly. but you can only be so carefull. 250 to a 1000 enough ride time yeah. but otherwise i dont really liek the idea.
yea my first one is my f4i i have now.
hopefully its not as impossible as you guys are makin it sound i didnt get it thinkin "i need a 600 because theyre nothing too hard", i just always saw it as the first street bike you start on, i really didnt even realize 250s were a common bike to ride on the street. but ive had my liscense for my truck since i was 16 and its been 5 years i have no tickets, or wrecks, ive never even been pulled over. i know im def. gonna respect this that much more and im gonna be that much more aware and observant.
you guys are making it sound impossible to start on a 600 without a near death experience.

Thanks Camaro. It always blows my mind that some people look at a 600 as a small bike. That's like thinking a .38 special is a good gun to use for Russian Roulette because it is not a very large caliber. Glad the kid was okay, and I'll bet he learned his lesson.

and it came from voodoo! whowouldathunk?
i agree with a lot of things being said here. this bike was my first street bike. i had bought the bike put it in the garage and didnt touch it for 2 months because i was waiting to take my motorcycle safty course. i think in part i got lucky with it but i also feel i had a lot of respect for the bike. the day i lost respect was littlerly the day i put it up for sale. i did something stupid and when i got home i went in the house got the chain and a for sale sign chained the bike to a tree out front and put the forsale sign on it and it was gone in a few days.
i had also chased away a few other buyers from the bike becuase i felt they were goofin off morons that shouldnt have one like this. One was a freind cousin and from knowing him i knew he shouldnt have a bike. Another one was trying to tell me his stock early 90's r1 did 7 second 1/4 mile times. And some other guy that first was like well f4i looks two small i need a 1000 i wont fit this and then started to harass me about leting him ride it and i was like nah just leave.
the worst part was that f4i had a very strong engine in it. i took very good care of it. i think new riders should start off on something smaller but to all the veteran riders the day you stop respecting your bike is the day you should park it or sell it. becuase to me with motorcycles its more about respect for the machine then it is any thing else. skill may get you out of a bad possition but if you respect it 9 times out of 10 you will never be put in a postion to need to any skill.

You can be killed on a bicycle. Its just pretty much, "I learned on a 1000cc. I'm a man and you're a ***** for getting a 600cc."

600s I agree aren't the best bikes to start on. But when it comes to Honda they don't have crap when it comes to beginner bikes that are sport bike looking. We have the 599 but someone who wants some wind protection is just SOL.
