lol. don't worry man it will happen occasionally. I've been riding for about 5 months as well and first bike. I have my system down...
1. insert headphones and adjust them accordingly...skullcandy 50/50's with mic and mp3 controls
2. pull helmet on and strap it up
3. make sure my key is in ignition
4. pull gloves on and strap them up

I'm kinda ocpd about certain things and especially towards riding my bike and driving my car. it's horrible. but every once in a while I forget to do one of the following in the right order. :P

 

Mine is always: Jacket, followed by Helmet, followed by Gloves. If I put the gloves on before the helmet, it's a pain to try to get it all the way on and strapped.
