I've only done it a few times in all the time I've been riding but my helmet comes with a quick release as standard so it doesn't really matter.
I keep my gloves in my helmet (I'm assuming most people do this) and I set the down on the tank before putting the helmet on. This is basically my routine:
- Disarm alarm
- Hang my helmet (with gloves inside) on my left mirror, set it on the tank or put it on the seat and zip up my jacket if it's not already zipped up.
- Put key in ignition, remove gloves from helmet and set them on the tank
( - Put my Zumo in the cradle if I need it)
- Check if my scala rider is on, put on helmet and sit on bike
- Check if the zipper of my pockets are closed
- Put on gloves and double check zippers
Works like a charm.
