Any machinists or "manufacturing engineers" in sunny states here?
I was wondering if any of the more southern states (I'm in Ohio) have a large manufacturing base like here. I have been toying with the idea of moving out of state eventually, and am a pretty good machinist/programmer, around here there doesnt seem to be a lack of good jobs if you are skilled. Anyone with similar careers?

Port of New Orleans is the 5th largest port in the U.S. and the Port of South Louisiana (St. John-St. James Parishes) is the Largest in the U.S., the Largest in the Western Hemisphere, and the 9th largest in the world.
New Orleans is also home to the NASA assembly facility in Michoud, where my buddy will (electrical engineer) just got hired.

Sorry to post and run, but it was getting late. I am a c.n.c. machinist and CAM programmer, mostly hands on training(some formal CAM training with Edgecam and Mastercam) for 10 years, not bragging but, every shop I have ever worked in (aerospace, medical, general jobshops) I have been the #1 or #2 guy. I'm working in the Dayton/ Springfield area now. Working with, and learning from, people smarter than you is the best way to evolve. I've seen alot of people intimidated by someone looking to change things and improve ideas, I think its great.
