Always wear your gear...
Not to turn this into flaming, but there is no comparison to sneakers and boots.
Sorry, just completely not in the same ball park. You are very lucky if you sustained little to no injury in a wreck with jeans and sneakers on.

damn what a ribbing i'm getting here. it's ok though. i know a lot of people can't JUST make their point, and they have to use sarcasm or whatever.
i guess i was lucky in my wrecks. so with the boots I was already thinking about some street ones just cuz i know they wouldn't be as easy to mess up as tennis shoes, and I could stop taking office appropriate shoes with me when I ride to work. If i'm not doing track days then is there reason to get race boots?

I dont have any pictures.. i didn't even take pics of the bike rode it too my friends house and traliered it to the shop. I can post the injury pictures later tonight or tomorrow maybe really my jeans took a good rip, small abrasions and road rash, and i pinched my middle finger pretty bad, but its not broken just really swollen.
As for how it happened...
We were riding threw bear mt state park, a bit fast, we stopped to figure were we wanted to go. A state park cop pulled up as we were pulling away, my friend on an R1 saw him, I didn't. As we started pulling away he swerved infront of me and slowed to stop for the cop, and I ran right into the back of his bike and took the two of us down. Minor damage to his bike, frame sliders saved mine except for the front ferring that has a huge hole in it and the head light. We both got up a bit sore but nothing major. I had sneakers on, heh I got a nice rash from my ankle half way up my shin, other than that the jeans did ok. The jacket is scuffed on the right arm, but it held up and I did feel the fall but other than that my upper body is perfect.

And from my experiences, I rode dirt bikes as a kid, so I still have the habit of kicking off whenever the rear steps out. If I had tried that with tennis shoes on, well I'd prolly be walking with a cain or a prosthetic foot.
Far as jeans go, if you're not a twistie warrior (if ya are you need full leathers, boots, n gloves), the re-enforced riding jeans out there will protect worlds better than a pair of levi's. If you're a stunter, check out what the pros wear n not what joe blow who thinks hes a pro wears.
Most people I know that ride to work on a regular basis keep their office/work shoes at the office and just change when they get to work.
And ya, the sarcasm can get old but if you think about it all the replies are looking out for you. Riding is intrinsically dangerous (read: CAGES) and it'd make me proud to never see another pic of what the road can do to our members

i would leave my office shoes at work if I didn't change it up so much. I do have to have steel toes though which I change into quite often, and was thinking of just wearing those all the time since they are considered good enough for the office, and are like riding boots to an extent. I was also thinking that most of the riding boots I have seen can probably pass in the office. The office is pretty much just no tennis shoes
Tried that many moons ago and to me the steel toe sticks up too high to make shifting comfortable. Could adjust the shifter but I like my A*'s too much not to wear 'em. I'm fortunate in that I have two lockers at work to stow all my gear
