Oh, I thought he was buying you the 600 for 3K as a way to get out of giving you the 4k you told him he owes you for the 954.

Man - unless you have to have a bike right now, I dunno if I'd come out of pocket for a 6 year old 600 that is selling on craigslist in the $3500 range all day long. It's not really that sweet of a deal, and you might have trouble getting anything but your initial investment out of it.

what timeframe does your friend have for getting you the $$$ he owes you?

i say your "friend" should pay to have you bike fixed back to the condition it was in prior to dropping it...even if he has to sell his possessions to do it. If I'm taking someones bike for a ride I understand the rule of "You break it, you bought it"...that works both ways, and if my friends aren't comfortable with that, they don't take my bike.

nu-uhh, no way, nope!

he just trashed your bike, and now you have to pay another 3k for a bike you don't really want and wait for him to pay you back and maybe get some cash to put into it?

how bad off is the 954? i can't remember from the thread, but if the frame (subframe too), forks, and engine are ok, i'd keep it and fix it up. - keep a bill and get him to pay for everything, thats the same thing essentially.

if not, get another 954. or at least, get a bike that you want. you shouldn't have to settle AT ALL in this case, which from the sounds of it, is what you're doing by getting the friend's gix

i love to fix it but i'd rather not go thru the hassle of piecing it back together.. the forks are craked and i believe there is something going on with the engine casing as well..

nonetheless..

i see the guy who dropped the bike on just about a daily basis and he is determined to pay me back, from the minute he dropped it and took a fall. its hard to get mad at the guy because he is cooperating.. he made arrangements for someone to come pick it up the way it is for 1500.. so that's coming right to me. now its just a matter of getting the other 2500..

if i come out of pocket for that gixxer for $3k, i believe i have someone lined up to buy it for $4k.. i need to confirm they will be picking it up and see when they plan on picking it up.. that puts an extra $1k in my pocket if it all works out the way i plan (which it never does)!

ahh - well that's different - if you can flip the 600 immediately and make a grand off the deal - then hell yeah, why not. I would.

*edit* it's up to you if you give your buddy any credit for getting you the opportunity to make that grand. There does appear to be some good faith going on, and if you don't feel you would have been able to get the Gixxer for the $3k without your buddy's intervention, then that's something to consider.
