What model CBR 600 do we have? Help needed
Hello all. I just signed up with the hope that you folks can help me out. My wife just purchased an old used CBR 600. The VIN number is JH2PC190XKM203835. I did a free vin check and it is showing up as a 1989 model. That would make it likely to be an F model just after the Hurricane. The gas tank does not say CBR as it should for this year and the plastic at the rear of the bike says it is an F3, which I very much doubt.
Is it likely that the bike was repared with various model years parts?
I am looking for a service manual since the speedo and tach do not work. The question is, what model service manual should I try and get?
Are parts available from Honda for a machine this old?
We are somewhat limited in our connections here because we live in the Dominican Republic. Any help would be appreciated.

RE: What model CBR 600 do we have? Help needed
Here are some things I have been told by others that have seen the pictures:
The dual headlights were not sold in the US. (However, the bike was brought into the Dominican Republic from the US)
The purple and black model was not made in 1989. The original F model was made then just after the Hurricane name was dropped.
There should be CBR on the gas tank. This gas tank says only Honda and the "wing" trademark.
The front plastic pieces are actually fiberglass on this bike. I was told that the original pieces would have been injection molded plastic.
That means, the plastic, the purple wheels, the headlight assembly and the gas tank don't appear to be original to the frame of this bike.
The bike also came with a purple and black matching CBR helmet, go figure.
The pictures in my original post were low res jpeg, sorry for any of you with eye damage looking at them.
In this post I have a higher resolution image. There is a limit of 250KB for an image, so that is why they had to be low res.
