Default What to look for when buying a used CBR???

Hi my name is Jonathan, I've been a member to this forum for a while...just really never post, but love to read!

Anyways, I'm supposed to be buying a used 05' CBR600 black tribal on this friday. I found the guy on craigslist adn he dosen't live too far away. He says it is completely stock, and is willilng to take $5600 for it. (willing to take a personal check)

My question is, are there certain things to look for to make sure the bike wasn't abused? For example, is there any way i can tell if it was a track bike? Is there any way to tell if the fairings were replaced? Any advice on what to look for will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!
Oh also, whenI test drive it, what should I look for? Should anything feel a certain way? I have no idea what to expect whenI ride it, I've never ridden a CBR.

Thanks again people!!!

if it rides well and you feel comfortable on it, buy it. All I know is if I like something and I can't take your eyes of it i buy it. So test ride it . ride it like you stole it and if it works well (Shifting gears, stopping and acceleration) buy it before someone else does.

Look her over for scratches or a bent sub-frame (the seat area) Look at the bolts/screws that hold the fairing on. He they crash, they always forget to or cheap out when it comes to replacing the screws and they have scratces on them too. Look at the axle bolts, oil cap and such... simple track days where a novice goes to play is fine for a bike, but the more advance the rider gets, they move up and have to lock wire things on the bike. Check the steering head for play, that's where the forks attach to the frame. A lot of wheelies will wear that area out.

In additon to the above,...look at the spockets and chain for wear, sit on it and look at the fork to make sure its straight, front view too, check for any forks leaks and for 5600 k miles it should look pretty new..best of luck..
