Default thinking of buying one

Hello. I currently do not own a cbr however I have the itch bad. I recently sold my Harley with intentions of buying a new cruiser but I.can't stop looking at sportbikes and how fun they must be to ride. I took my buddys cbr 600 around the neighborhood and I.feel hooked. My question is do you think a 32 year old is too old to start getting into this type of riding after being used to cruising. Also would you suggest a 600 or 1000? Im 5'10 190. I feel like I will grow out of a 600. Any advise.would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the CBRForum!

32 aint nothin' but a thang! All joking aside, age isn't an issue. Its how young at heart you are. So YES, you can ride a sportbike!

Best advice I can give you since this will be your first sportbike, is to go ahead & buy a 600. Then, learn the characteristics of riding a sportbike & get your technique down. Once you've done that & gotten some good experienced seat time on a 600, then get something larger if you want.

Good to have you w/ us.

If you like your friends CBR 600, I’m sure you will love having your own.

I'd go with a 600 anything bigger is overkill for street use imo. A 01-03 600F4i will be more comfy than the 600RR's and still looks wicked plus its just about as fast.

hell yes,32 is so old to be getting into a sport tourer,my cbr1000f can still scare me and i`m a mere 56ish,and was off bikes for around thirty years ,you dont have to use it all but nice to know its there if you want it ,the 1000 is a heavy machine i found ,but then is reassuringly solid and reliable and built to last, some very clean low milage ones about quite cheap,at 56 ish i know if i lose it its gonna hurt ,but then if i wanted to live safely till 99 i would have got an old honda 50 stepthrough ,go for it ,enjoy it and live life,if it dont suit you ,there are always lots of guys looking for one of these lovely machines ,can always trade it for nice little scooter or something when you hit 35

just noticed i am a junior memberso maybe am not turning into the old fart i thought i was ,and still have many more years to scare myself on my hurricane, they do say as you get older you should get your heart racing at least once, what better way to do it than on a hurricane, laughing insanely as the young guns disappear into the distance the mirrors, getting older aint so bad ! could be lot worse ,could be looking back and wondering why i never had a hurricane !

OLD is a state of mind. I recently acquired my first sport bike (CBR600 F4i) and my 50th birthday was many years ago (I blame it on my son). It's been over 40 years since I was on a dirt bike as a kid riding in the canyons. Take your time looking and riding, spend some time on the bikes that have attracted your attention. Make sure you're comfortable and then go for it. Good Luck with your search.
