Default Street fighter project

Bought a 97 cbr600 was told it ran well It tries to. I’ve replace the fuse and the little box on battery wire new battery to. All it does when trying to start it does just one click. Took starter out hooked to battery and it spins fine. Any ideas? It was a free bike so I can spend some money on it

It would seem the starter relay is not wired in correctly - if it clicks, it's activating - but that doesn't mean the battery is properly connected to it, and that it's connected to the battery. Jump the two large wires on the bottom and see if the starter spins then.

If it still clicks and nothing, then trace the wiring, check the voltages, and confirm your engine even turns over - you can power the starter directly while installed if needs be - if wiring it directly to the battery doesn't work, then the problem is in the engine itself.

(assuming of course you tested the starter with your bike battery - if not, what makes you think your bike battery is good?)

Measure the voltage from the starter motor terminal to earth when you try to start it - that will check the starter relay and the wiring to that point.

Assuming that’s good take the plugs out and try to start it - that will check for hydraulic lock.

Then it’s down to checking the starter clutch and trying to turn the engine over by hand to make sure it’s not seized.
