Default Newbie - Short guy

Hey everyone, i'm a newb here at this web site. I was hoping I can get some information about the lowering links (dog-bone) for the new CBR 600 rr's. Has anyone had it dropped 2" to 4" inches lower? Does it handle differently?

The reason why I need it dropped is because i'm a short guy, only 5'3" and about 140 lbs! Even with a 4" drop, will it be lower enough for me to have my foot on the ground? I also heard that it isn't good for the shocks on bumpy roads. I don't own a CBR yet and was really looking to buy it.

There was a guy with a 2001 CBR 929 RR that wanted $5400, which looked like a good deal to me, except for the fact that i've never ridden a motorcycle beforwe and also that 929 cc is way to big and powerful for me, so ill stick the with smaller 600 cc.

lowering bikes in any way kill the handling. if you get the 600 rr you may look in to getting the seat cut down you might get 2" not for sure

hope this helps

If you lower any bike you definitely cut the handling WAY down. They are designed to be ridden and leaned over for cornering, you take away that clearance, and you got nothin'. Definietly look into cutting your seat down if need be, or look into a Corbin seat, I think they sit a bit lower than stock, but whatever you do, DON'T lower that machine a full 4", Handling will suck!! No offense to the guys that ride lowered bikes, I know you ride one Beater, but I would never do this to a bike. Just my $.02[8D]

Okay, thanks a lot for the info you guys. well, i'll look into the corbin seat and maybe just lower the bike 1 or 2" inches only, that wouldn't hurt much right?

Holy crap!!! You are in SPFLD huh?? I think if lowering your bike is your only option, then 1 or 2 won't KILL it!! Not too many twisties around here anyway. If you ever make it over to Decatur, give me a shout and we can ride or something!! email me if you ever decide to ride over. shane_workman@insightbb.com

Don't lower yer bike dude! Personally think it looks kinda lame w/ da top of yer forks stick'n up so high outta yerfront end. It decreases handling too just like everyone else has said as well. Definetlly look into a Corban cuz the seat on da Hondas suck *** anyway!Welcome to da board and hope everythang werks out fer ya! Post sum pix went ya get what ever it is done so we can peep it out!
