Welcome aboard the CBRF! Sounds like you've got a great attitude, man.
A great bike, too!

Have you looked at the UnderArmor ColdGear? I don't have the hood, but I have the pants and they work great in the cold.
It seems like a good bet to fit under a helmet (thin stuff), and I know the material would keep you warm.

The welcome crew covers all the bases quickly Do take your time when getting to know your 600! If your starting on 250's (like I did), the difference is going to be HUGE! Throttle control will save your life! As far as Baclava's go, I got one at REI for winter Running, it's made of Wool, but is super breathable, and it was like 10 bux....First 20 degree ride to work in the AM it was a Lifesaver!
