Hi everyone, thank you for accepting me. I am not sure what you have let yourselves in for. anyway I am about to take posession of a 1996 CBR1000F, it is running and has not long been unregistered. Hopefully it will arrive some time next week. I am in a place called Rockhampton in sunny Queensland, and I will post pics and stuff up later. I intend to rebuild the old girl as I do like the look of it a lot more than I like the newer styles of bikes, I do have a Harley as well, but please do not hold that against me too much. the picture posted is not the actual bike, but it is the same colour and model although the one I am getting has factory bags I am told.
The clearcoat has started to peel on the bike and I am told the hoses could probably do with new ones and it will more than likely need new tyres as well as they have been sitting for almost a year in the shed of the previous owner (flat) so be warned I will have a mountain of questions later on.
Welcome to the CBR Forum Clive,
You just may notoce the difference between the CBR and the Harley!
Ask any questions you need. There are a still a few folk around with a long histroy with the 1000F
Yeah, I keep forgetting where to put my feet when changing bikes, and the Harley is very slow by comparison. I am also hoping to make the old CBR back to good health again, I have been advised to change all my hoses before I do anything.
Cool bike man! I love the red, white, and blue color scheme! But I may be just a bias American. I just started riding a few weeks ago, got a 98 600. Never rode street bikes before except a couple times so I’m having a blast! Here’s mine, have fun!
All good mate, I am hoping to make it pretty close to original, don't worry about biased thoughts, red white and blue is also colours for Australia. A friend once told me if you ride your bike and when you get home, if you don't look back at the bike and smile, you bought the wrong bike. Both my bikes make me look back and smile.
