Default new front tire?

how do i know when i need a new front tire? mine now looks some what low on the threads and on the right side about the middle of the half tire (if your sitting on the bike) has a noticible wear mark. its like a path around it 1/4 the way in. my brother says the tire is probley off balance becuase you can feel a shake in the handle bars. should i get a new tire?

If their is considerable ware then yes replace the tire but if its out of balance just get it properly balanced. When I start looking at my tires and loosing faith in them I purchase new ones just because I don't trust them anymore. New tires always makes me feel more confident on the bike.

Could this be the reason you went down?

All tires have TWI (tread wear indicators) marks. The marks are normally arrows or triangels or such. Find that mark on the sidewall area then look at the center and edges of the tread in that area. There will be raised bumps inside the tread. When the bump is flush with the rest of the rubber, that's your indication to change tires.

But... there are many other reasons to change tires. Look for abnomal wear or damage. If you're not sure what you're looking at, find someone that is. Your tires are your life on a bike.

If you are not to sure stop by some shop that sell motorcycle tires and let them inspect it. I am sure they will let you know if you need new ones.
