New Front Tire
My F4i currently has about 5800 miles on it. It has the stock Dunlop up front (from 06) and a Michelin Pilot Pure out back.
I am going to get a new front tire, as no doubt it has passed its peak despite the good tread depth... so I am considering a Pilot power 2ct for the front to compliment the rear..
My riding consists of perhaps 50% commuting and 50% weekend rides.. Not too much canyon carving or extreme twisters but I have one some cool rides up north in the mountains. I have never done a track day although I'd like to try one some day.. Notice I said "one" if at all.
Ordinarily, I would match front to rear (I had Pilot Powers on my F4 and liked them a lot) but I think that pilot pures are a bit more than my riding needs, plus I was told they tend to wear a lot faster than the other pilot tires.. Eventually I would match the rears to the front, but the rear seems to only have maybe 1200 miles on it.
What do you all think? I'm sure similar questions have been asked before, so any replies are appreciated.
Thanks

2ct will be over kill for you needs also. Why not run pilot powers? You liked them before and they're the same as the 2ct's until you get to the edges, then they get softer. If you ride straight all the time, tending to wear them in the middle, maybe go with a "sport touring" tire, like a road 3 or something. I personally, am running powers currently...

I recently (2k miles, 3 months ago) put on Pilot road 2s, I did my research and only read good things about them. great for everyday riding and when you occasionally decide to hit the twistys or a track-day you'll have no worries. also I heard they are great in the rain (never tested myself).
these suited my needs and the idea of them lasting much longer than the powers sealed the deal.

Who ever told you pures wear faster then 2ct's is full of it. Besides that the pure front tire is a big improvment over the 2ct where as the pure rear is pretty much the same as a 2ct but not as good in cold weather. If I was going to mis match I'd do pure front and 2ct back but there is no reason to. I got 10,000 miles out of my last pure rear and almost 15k out of the pure front. From the set of 2ct's before the pures I got...... the same mileage.
