New F2 owner here
Hey everyone! I just recently acquired a 93 F2 last week in a trade of sorts. The bike seems to run decent. Here is a list of parts it came with.
- K&N filter
- Jet kit (140.5 outers and 142.5 inners. Needles raised one notch)
- Straight pipe exhaust made from a mid pipe
- Aftermarket aluminum 900rr wheels
- Newer tires
- APE solid cam chain tensioner
- Newer o-ring chain and sprockets +2 in the rear
- Chrome aftermarket front and rear foot pegs
- New grips
- New mirrors
- Fresh oil and filter
As you can tell by the pics, the bike is naked due to the plastics being gone. Bike didn't come with any, so I assume they were damaged beyond repair somewhere along the way. I don't mind riding the bike naked (eventually would like to get it back to full plastic status), but the lack of a pipe on the bike is rather annoying. It's just too loud on the highway. I'm afraid to put a stock pipe back on it, because the bike is jetted. I just need to figure out how to quiet the damn thing down. I didn't realize the exhaust systems were so expensive for these things. Aftermarket exhaust for my car isn't as much as one for this bike.
Overall, I'm not disappointed. I picked the bike up last Saturday and drove it 100 miles home. Paid roughly $1300 for it (that's what I estimated my items were worth in the trade).
Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.

Hello and Welcome to the CBR Forum!!! Seems like you got a good deal. Hope you changed oll the fuilds in the bike. You may be able to pick up fairings on Flebay at a decent price and maybe a midpipe and exhaust can for it too. Ride Safe
Welcome to the forum, man! I'd keep an eye on craigslist for plastic parts, too. They come up sometimes for real cheap.
It doesn't look like she's in too bad of shape otherwise, though.

Hey there and welcome to CBRF!!
The F2 is a great bike and very robust if looked after capable of huge mileages
I do much prefer the look with all the fairings in place though rather than these street
bike looks but I notice yours looks very clean and nice condition with what's
underneath so with new fairings it should be an almost minter
There is an F2 review here...

I see on ebay you can buy these fairing kits
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ABS-Fairing-Ho...item3caa486de8
and they look very good, obviously not original Honda quality and I hear you may have to drill the odd hole and
use a dremel here and there but they can make a bike look new again ... here are some, good colours too a bit like
my old F3 colours ... I crashed my F3 year before last and have painstakingly tracked down and replaced nearly all
the fairing panels with Honda original from ebay as and when decent second hand came up but in the end I had to buy
a new top fairing as I couldn't find anything in decent enough quality so I just bit the bullet ... the bike now when
back together should look like new again
Good luck with it all and if you replace the fairing let us all know how you got along and post pictures of the new look
Take care and have fun!!

Thanks guys. Just picked up a nice Micron pipe for it from a local. Gonna work on getting that put on and hopefully be able to ride it without getting a headache. Might be some time before I start workin on the plastics. Gotta save up the money first! I didn't realize how expensive mods are for bikes vs. cars. Yikes!
Juliet,
Those ebay links. I've seen a few of them on there. Can I assume that if I bought a complete F3 fairing package, I wouldn't have anyproblems installing them on my F2? Is there possibly a write up somewhere on how to install them or what it takes to install a complete F3 set on an F2? Thanks.
