Default Michigan Rider

Hi, I'm from Michigan and I've been riding all my life ( I learned to ride a little 50cc, before I learned to ride a bicycle), and am enrolled in the Motorcycle Safety course for the end of this month. I don't have a bike yet and am up for the best suggestions for starting on the street bike scene, since this will be my first time riding on the road. I forgot to mention I've been a dirt rider all my life, so things will be a little different I'm sure but I'm not too worried about it. Thanks in advance for any info ya got.

Let the games begin.

Welcome to the forum. You are the only one that can answer the question as to what bike to buy. If you're talking about Honda or something else, Honda will be most of your answers here. We just kind of like em. I like all bikes (except the big fat one... you know the one I'm talking about). So you really need to test sit them to see how they feel to you. As for size, how mature are you? You could start out on a liter bike if you respect it enough. I think the 600s are a perfect all around bike. I don't feel the need for a liter bike and I'm not a small guy. One day I may grow up and buy one, but for now, I'm more than happy with the 600RR.

Are you looking at new or used?

Thanks for the welcome guys. I've always been a loyal Honda rider for my off-road needs so this was my first stop as for choice of forums. So someone suggesting Honda to me sounds great. I'm about 5'11" so the 600 class of bikes feels pretty good.I was curious whether it's going to be more beneficial to buy something olderlike an F2 or F3, or go for something newer like an F4i or RR and just look for a lightly damaged one in auction. I'm a college student so I'm pretty strapped for cash.
