Hi everyone from Melton Mowbray, UK
Hi I'm new to this forum so just introducing myself.
I've been into bikes since I was about 14 when I was bitten by the bike bug and had a few in my years (I'm 52 now.)
When I passed my test in 1988 it was so much simpler then and I'm glad I got it out of the way. On passing my test I jumped to an Rd250lc then onto. Suz GSX750ET ( still miss that bike to this day) was knocked of by a car U turning so I rebuilt it to swap for... an RG400 2T it was fun for a while.
Passed car test in 93 and then nearly died in it in 94 Oops.
I haven't ridden really since then as I was advised not to but my son came along and he got into bikes so I bought him a cbr125 damaged repairable and rebuilt it for him to ride when he was 17.
Once I finished my sons cbr125 I was bored and mentioned to the missus I needed "a project" to work on as didn't have a lot to do in this small town ( Melton Mowbray, Leics.)
I was on eBay browsing bikes as you do and saw a 1996 fireblade that was repairable and being bike orientated thought why not so I bought it.
I now have a 1996 (P reg) cbr900rrv that I stripped down to find a saddening amount of abuse and neglect but I'm working on the restoration and sourcing parts. I've got the barest rolling chassis and have the engine rebuild ahead of me as I've found a hairline crack from the rear mounting to the clutch casing side so that'll have to be sorted first.
My friends let me have a quick ride of their fireblades over the years and I always wanted one of my own, now I've finally got one I love it and can't wait to finish her no matter how long it takes. I just love the old blades.
Well that's enough of me rambling on, hopefully that's my introduction done although it wasn't the briefest lol
