My first ride on the old girl.
Hey Guys
Warning: Circumlocutory yawn-fest ahead!
So a year ago I got my 600 FL first registered in '91 and in a pretty complete but cosmetically tatty state. Since then I've been cleaning, lubing and generally trying to stop the rust from killing the sub-frame and swing arm using paint. I also did a poor-guy's spray job on the fairings after sorting all the stress cracks etc. Anyway to cut a tedious story short I recently got the bike through her UK road test which meant that all I needed to do was sort the insurance and tax. With that sorted early this morning (Sunday 5th of may) I got on her for the first time...
All I can say is wowweeeee! What a bike! It was a big learning curve for me as I haven't ridden for 3 years and the last time was when I passed my test on a Suzuki GS500! lol The honda felt like a Rolls-Royce compared to how I remember the Suzuki (not that they aren't good bikes of course) and I was very impressed with how she ran. The gears were good (big relief) and the whole ride went very well.
I'm hoping that she's gonna be a very good bike to get my confidence back on if I don't go crazy on her. She's very comfy and was a real pleasure to ride. I think in time I'll be able to ride the bike like it deserves to be ridden but in the meantime I'm buzzing from the first go on her and how it felt to pull the throttle back and see how she could pull away from the car behind.
What a bike...i'm blown away!
