Default Good price for a F4i? Please help

This is my first bike, I just took the FL 20hr BRC in order to obtain my license. It was so much fun. Anyhow I ultimately want to get a 750 but that could be a year or later down the road. And thought best to get a cheaper sportsbike before then so I can learn how to drive better and also learn the parts of the bike, etc. I really wanted to get a sports bike to learn on though so I could get used to the feel and seat positioning and whatnot.

With that said, some guy in my complex as the following for sale:
-2003 Honda CBR600 F4i
-18k miles
-He just took possession of it from his friend who was the original owner
-Original owner did lay it down: I see some scratches on the top left side of bike
-Also a small dent in the right side of the fuel tank
-Guy said the chain me be neeing replacement soon (the 2nd guy, who doesnt know much about bikes I should point out)

With that said, is this still sound okay? What sort of things should I look for when checking the bike out? And most importantly, what is a decent price for this? Thanks!

Hey there Roach, good to see you took the BRC. As for the bike, I'd say $2000 to $2500 and no more. Without looking at it, it's really hard to say. I would suggest looking for something that doesn't have as much (if any) damage, at least until you learn about what to look for. There's guys here who have bought these bikes for $3500 in immaculate condition.
These bikes can be very sensitive to being dropped and there could be numerous things wrong with it. If it has damage to both sides of the bike, it's been down more than once. I'd be wary of why this person, who just took possession of it, wants to unload it so quickly; know what I mean? Let us know how it goes.

Hello and welcome , if you can take it to a Honda motorcycle shop have them take a look at it unless you really trust him.

Thanks for the info guys. I actually came across a very tempting sale on a 2004 Ninja 250R with 7000 miles in perfect condition. Well it needs a new taillight blinker. Whole thing for $1000.

I picked it up as Im confident I could sell her in 6months and at least break even, and use it as a way to learn to ride without also worrying about controlling the power. After a few weeks of research I am very inclined to get a ZX6R / ZX10R or a CBR600RR / CBR1000RR once I master this little bike.

Im sure I will be prowling these boards quite a bit!!

That's a really great deal on that 250 ninja. You will have a blast on that bike. I'm sure in the near future you will find a kick *** bike. Take care!
