Default Good price?

Local dealer has an 06 1000RR for 9900.00 w/zero miles. They told me it was their last one and it was on clearance. Is this a decent price or do I have room to haggle?

List price for the '06 1000RR was $11299. Ready to sell cost (at no profit to dealer) was about $9800. The dealers after a sale get a 5% (of list price) holdback refund from Honda within 1-6 months. This brings their actual cost down to $9240. A great deal for you would be to get within 5-7% of that. Dealers want to make 10-15% at LEAST.

Now that's relevant info for 2006 buying. When it's well into the 2007 season, that sort of goes out the window and is less of a guide. These dealers want to get old inventory OFF the floor. It doesn't look good, and more importantly they want to make the room for the'07 stock. They likely get some sort of break from Honda that we can't know about, which still nets them a profit at low prices.

I've read that people are getting $9100 OTD for these. Cash sale at LakehillMotors.com for '06 goes for $8700. So with tax, that $9100 number is close. Shoot for $9100, and pay no more than $9300.

In 2003, I bought a new '02 CBR954rr for 9k flat OTD. Wasn't bad, but knowing what I know now, I could have done a touch better.

btw, I estimate Honda gives at least a 1k break on year old bikes. If that dealer figures to make $9300 before your tax, and the year-old bike actually costs them $8250, they just made 12.7% off you. Bad deal for you. Make $9200 your top OTD price and they still make 6% on the sale.

There are still 2 dealers in TN that sell New 06 1kRR's for less than $8500 Each

Abernathy's and Sounthern Honda, use these dealers price to negotiate with.
I did last year and got my new 06 in July for $9658 OTD and that prce included all taxes and regs.
