First bike
1999 Honda CBR 600 F4
Hey everyone! My Name is Nate , I live in Dutchess County NY. I have a couple questions if anyone can help me. This is my first bike so if the questions seem dumb please bare with me.
1. At 55-60 in 6 th gear what should the bikes RPM be at? Seems to run around 5500-6000 rpms in 6 th.
I personally thought that was high but then again I’ve never owned a bike before.
I picked this bike up for $900 and I’m sure I got the deal of the year. 9,300 miles in primo condition . All I’ve done this far is tighten chain and changed oil, yes I used 10-40 motorcycle oil. So if anyone can let me know about the rpms that would be great . Along with any other important things I should know to look for on this particular bike. Thanks again

@jinxchuubs Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your first bike. Yes, that is high. Most likely the sprockets have been changed. More teeth in the back and less in the front will change what RPM's you have in different gears. Here in the US, the F4 had 16T on front sprocket and 46T in the rear. Simply count the teeth on your sprockets to know how much they've been changed. I think on my 2006 F4i I'm running around 4500 @ 60mph. I think... somewhere in there give or take.
On the following page, the front sprocket is on the Transmission page and the rear sprocket is on the Rear Wheel page.

Welcome Nate!
According to this site - https://www.gearingcommander.com/ - you should be running at approx. 5k rpm @ 60 mph, so you are a little high, but not by much. You can play around with the gearing and see how it changes your rpm at different speeds...

I feel much better now that you guys verified some things for me. I thought my bike was broken lmao. No but really thank you for answering my question so fast. I’m glad I found this group!
It's funny, I didn't believe your location information. I google mapped it, and sure enough there is a place called Fishkill, NY.
You learn something new every day.
I always look at maps to see where people are from to see what riding they have near them. Van Wyke Lake Rd and Snook Rd look really nice. Here in S. FL we have long straight roads. I'm so jealous.
