Default speed gearing question

im not arround my bike right now, but i know when im traveling on the highway at say 75, my tach reads about 7200 rpms. does anyone have an idea for the ballpark of the gearing i have? i know the rear sprocket is vortex, but it came like that so i dont know much about it. and also are these types of rpms good to maintain while riding on the highway?

Are you referring to whether you have stock gearing on your sprockets or not? Probably the easiest way to determine that is to actually count the teeth. Although I'm guessing your probably have a +2 on the rear, no real reason, just a guess. As for the RPMS you're running at highway speed, I don't think the bike really cares. Even though 7200 seems high its really only halfway up the engines RPM range so I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Sounds close to what my bike would cruise at, I have +2 on the rear

If your Vortex sprocket is aluminum, please throw it away and replace it with a steel one!

I don't have an F2, I have an F3 but I know at 75 in 6th gear I'm at 6500. I'm not sure what gears I have on it yet, guess it's time to count. Plus it's a smokin joe so I don't know if they are geared differently.

okay, well i counted 48 teeth on the rear, how does that stack up to factory, and i dont think i can count the front without removing the plastics, and its dark and cold outside

Yeah, thats geared pretty low. I personally prefer stock gearing, I used to have the -1/+2. Probably stock up front and +2 in the rear would be about perfect, but its all up to personal taste. Definitely take Hershey's advice and get the steel sprocket. The aluminum ones will be destroyed after a couple thousand miles for sure. When I bought my bike it had an aluminum vortex sprocket on it and half the teeth were completely knocked off of it.

So I've been researching this a little, and I'm still kinda confused about the whole sprocket/gearing thing... I see a common theme in going -1/+2, what does this do? and what are some other common changes people make and what do those changes do? Pros and cons to any of these changes? I'm looking to maybe switch mine up....suggestions?? Thanks
