Default Cbr 600 f6 Fan shroud shortage

Hi all CBR folks.
hoping someone can help i have a CBR600F6 or 2006 F4i if you prefer. I've been riding for 7 years mainly as a commute in the UK, all year round and in all weathers. Sadly the wet has taken its toll and the radiator and fan shroud in particular is very corroded. I've replaced the radiator, that it seems are easily sourced at reasonable cost. But the shroud is really difficult to source.

Fan Shroud options:
  • suck it and pay comedy £120 just for shroud new.
  • Keep trying to find used ebay match. Costs and condition vary wildly. Seem to avg £60 inc postage. Many from us so postage naturally far more.
  • Try to bodge existing with some weld...
  • ...Or pay someone to weld it.
  • Get someone local to fabricate something. Probably too costly.
Of those options, used ebay is probably most likely.
Its unclear what versions or other bikes this fits. So its possible could get better search hits from other bike spares.

Does anyone in the forum have any thoughts ideas or even a compatible part for a fair price.
I don't need the fan, just the shroud.

Thoughts and advice welcomed.

Thanks

Original fan, shroud and Radiator. CBR600F6 2006. Showing existing condition. Note removal broke the mount off the radiator and tore the lug from the shroud. Also the shroud is spit even more while working on it.

Welcome to the forum,

I feel your pain, have been in the same position with this shroud on my F3 and CB500. The Uk weather destroys these parts.
I have found one a little cheaper at c. £100.

Unfortunately they are specific to the ally frame F 99-06.
The bay is probably your best bet followed by a good clean up and liberal coating with hammerite.

Cheers
Al

Thanks for your promot reply.
I frustrating that get a whole Radiator for like £80 but the silly pressed steel shroud is over £100.
All the ebay stuff seems to be coming in at over £60 inc fan, and even then, they are pretty corroded and often from much older bikes.

I think I'm going to suck it and get new OEM part.

There us a lesson the be learnt here.
When getting coolant replaced, esp. In the UK or wetter climes, get the shroud cleaned and painted in an effort to preserve it!
Someone should fabricate these as an after market part.

Thanks CBR folks.

You are absolutely right Paul, they certainly know how to gouge us in the UK for parts like these

Perhaps, eh?

Seems you can have someone fabricate that out of stainless. Not sure what current rates are, but wouldn't take me more than 30-minutes.

Here's one for £56 including shipping. Not sure what kind of import-taxes and VAT you'll be charged though.

Best-price for fuel-pump assembly for my SFV650 came from this place! Even with international-shipping, it was much cheaper than all domestic breakers.
