Wow, interesting fix.
I wonder if the chain was loose and by dropping it the chain jumped a tooth.

Welcome to the forum and happy to hear the good news that she is up and running.

Popping? have a look under the air box ( which will mean raise the fuel tank & remove the air box ), & you will see 2 half inch rubber hoses going to a valve set up & 1 rubber hose out from this valve going to the under side of the air box, these 2 hoses will be coming from the reed valves located on top of the engine valve cove ( 1 on the left & the other on the right side) So check those hose's for a nice tight fit & they are not split or damaged in any way where they can be leaking , Also with this ride taking a knock you will need to check the valve the 2 hoses are connected to - ( very easy removal , electrical pin connector plug), where it's not showing any damage in any way & it will have a electrical connection which means it's a solonoid valve, So really, if you have a sparky friend?, just take it to them & they will tell you if it's working rite in 30 seconds, Then have a look at the hose from the valve to the air box for the same defects as the 2 hose's, if they are all 100% good, this will be a fuel system issue where it may be some thing as simple as a lose electrical connection & with my guess, & the bike taking a knock that's 90% the cause, & so it will take you some time, but go over every electrical plug & connector & double check that they are in position as some times all it will need is that little extra push & you will hear & feel that click & all is well again, at least give that a go, as the last thing want to do is to hand it over to a dealer shop & get reamed all over a lose connector.
