We don't even have to wear a helmet. Land of the free. (Texas, that is.)

We have a special ward in the local hospital - ward 8
That's the one where all the guys with major injuries go.
It should be mandatory for anyone riding a bike to visit there for the day.
Every time I see a "no helmet law" state, I see a state legislature ,I see Senators etc who have never lost a son to brain injury.
I do like the rest of your laws especially tacking on felonies for each person you hurt, and the right to protect your neighbours property with deadly force. Just for that alone, I would have been happy in Texas (If my Dad had taken the job he was offered years ago with Texaco) I'd have probably been a neighbour, Joe.

We are always hoping the other 49 will do the seceding!

And I wear my helmet 98% of the time. Always on any ride in traffic or of any length. But oddly, I find that when I put it on, I feel bulletproof, which is not a good thing.

I'm with you, shadowman...
I'm usually against most laws.. but at least I can understand that one.

Mexico would just take texas (well, the rest of it anyway), and we would laugh... LOL...

I find that when I put it on, I feel bulletproof, which is not a good thing.
When I first started riding dirt (around 8 or so), I didn't like wearing a helmet at all. In order to get me to wear it, my dad said "just think how much more crazy chit you can do with a helmet on".
I ate it up, and have been wearing one ever since.
Seriously.
I bet my mom doesn't know that little story...

There are a few of problems with that.

Mexico can't afford us,

they would lose all their best jobs, and

it's just too big to be dragged back across the Rio Grande.

But this is the deal, you only get to leave the helmet at home if you are over 21 and, get this, have 10K in the bank to bury yourself (so the state doesn't have to pay). How thoughtful.
