As HW says happens to us all, just that we normally by the skin of our teeth escape and say nothing.
Heal well and get back on, I'm gutted for you but could have been worse and in years to come the story will get bigger, hairier and more heroic.
Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery (is it time for a street fighter?)

Keep positive!
Sorry to hear the bad news DRam.
I can certainty empathize having recently had a similar "off" myself. (Country road - inattention - my fault - didn't see hole in the road on a corner. Helmet then shoulder to the ground.... then the pain of ........... realization that I'd damaged the bike.)
Lets hope your body pain subsides quickly and you can start the repair of the bike.
Keep focus on the future and have a look at the following...

If I can get back on the road so can you.
Keep positive!
Your mates on the forum will give you all the technical assistance you may need.

"If I can . . . you can," - you seriously under estimate your skill sir. That is an incredible job of restoration. However, I will try to equal it. Should be far easier for me, the damage to both my bike and myself is far less than in your situation.
Thanks for the encouragement.
