hello im new from minnesota. I bought a 1990 1000f for a grand in almost perfect cond but not running. 70k miles on clock. cleaned carbs and tank, new battery and plugs then she would run but wouldnt rev very high, and would drain the battery. adjusted valves and stupidly pulled alternator to look at dampener. cant get any slack from tensioner to put back together. bummed out. need more advice on loosening chain. thanks

As for the Boyo thing - in Ireland Boi was used - pronounced "boy" & used primarily
in the Counties of Cork & Limerick but every gobsh!te bogman worth his salt used
it, usually preceded with an obligatory f/u

When all is refitted, remove the wire to let the tensioner do its job.
Oh! and be careful of the bearing by the starter motor hole - it can easily be displaced.

Welcome to all the newcomers. This is the place to be. Get yourselves aquainted and listen to the people who know their stuff. You will learn to overcome your older bike's problems and accentuate it's inherent strengths. You may ride one of these until it dies, but you'll never say it was a crappy bike.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
