Default A Funny Thing Happened To Me On The Way To...

My garage!

I'd been for a ride and when I got back I parked her on the road and put her up on the centre stand so I could wash the salt off her. Finished washing her , but needed to turn her round as she was side on to my very steep driveway . The road is so narrow where I live I have to do a kind of 3 point turn and to help with pulling her backwards I run her a little way up the ramp leading to my neighbours house .

So I jump on and push her off the centre stand , get a few feet up the ramp pull in the clutch and let her run backwards onto the road . But before she can get back on the road she stops dead !! So I'm stuck there wondering WTF is going on , I try pushing backwards and she just wont budge , I try to ease her further up the ramp and she wont move either , the back wheel just spins out???? This is getting a bit worrying now , 'cos she's resting just where the dip in the ramp is and my feet are only just touching the ground on tip-toes!

So I think something is under the bike lets take a look , nothing under the left hand side , so I lean her very carefully to the left so I can take a look under the right hand side and there sure enough is the problem . It's the centre stand on the floor for some reason?

Then it dawns on me the centre stand has broken in the middle , the left section is held up with the spring , but the right bit is hanging loose and has me wedged where I am , unable to go backwards or forwards . To make my situation even worse , now I've leaned the bike to the left , the centre stand has shifted and I can't even get her upright My feet wont reach the floor properly so I can't push her forward against the slope , my only hope is the side stand , but to get that down I need the foot that is holding the bike up....oh **** I need two left feet Damn!

I only nipped out to put the bike away , so I didn't even have my mobile in my pocket , how the f*ck did this happen!!! Double Damn!!

Luckily there was a young lady posting telephone directories who eventually came within calling distance and much to my embarrassment I had to ask her to put the side stand down for me .

On the not so lucky side my wife comes out of the house at just that moment and is not too amused to see a young lady in (from her view point), a rather curious position! Treble Damn!!!

Life can get real complicated real fast , but life just keeps throwing this kinda **** at me Someone up there is pi55ing themselves laughing and the jokes just keep coming thick 'n' fast

Still on the bright side I got me a ride today

Good you didn't drop it Hawk! The other thing is that the stand didn't decide to snap at a worse moment..could've been nasty mate.

I'd have loved to see the look on your head when the wife spotted you with the chick bent over..bet she wondered what the phone books were for .

Pi55ed myself at the mental images , good on you.

Thanks for sharing That was some funny shiznit Glad you didn't drop her ... and I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time, but just damn that's crazy odd. What are the chances the center stand would break at that particular moment

The lady in question was bending over to put the side stand down , from the angle my wife was looking from it looked like she was inspecting the family jewels

Yeah the old 'GG', boots would have come in handy , why oh why did I ever throw them out? It was a relief not to lay her down!

Was she cute? Look at it this way: the woman that wanted to come to my rescue when I laid down my bike was in her 60s. That's really embarassing, having the proverbial lil ole lady offering to help pick up 400 lbs of bike

I'm still laffin at the images of T bag teetering on the edge of disaster and no boy scouts in sight
