Oh, and I just pulled this out of Sixpack's article: "The science is clear. We are moving toward desert conditions in the southeast of Australia unless we act to halt global warming," he said.
If there is ANYTHING I'm certain of on this topic (after reading rather prodigiously on it) is that "the Science" is NOT clear. The importance of all the various factors which can and do control our overall temperature is entirely in flux. The atmospheric gasses factor may very well turn out to be a trivial issue which has no significant impact on these trends. In fact the global warmers are taking quite a beating with the data from the last 6 or 8 years, with some having to admit that we very well might be entering a very long cooling cycle now. But of course, the press has bought into their religion-like faith and fervor and rarely prints anything contrary, regardless of its source or significance.
Where is that soapbox? I had it right here somewhere.

We get allot of Pommy and US TV here .... and in quite a few shows , even though we all speak English of one sort or another , I have trouble understanding some of the bloody dialogue ...
The Afro American city street talk is prolly the worst to decipher
followed by the Irish, then by what I think is the country areas of western and Southern states of the US ... they sometimes talk in a way that is near impossible to figure out ... makes for interesting watching in movies ....me and Kerri quite often sit and ask each other " did you get that ? " .... " WTF did they just say ? "
lol
I know Aussies have some very unique terminology that could throw some peeps from OS , but at least we speak at a speed that can be understood and with our mouths open most of the time ... LOL

There's a "new" (probably 15 years old now) wave of Brit movies that came to the states, Guy Richie was a prime mover, which I really have enjoyed. I tend to watch them several times, and it helps to have a DVR so I can back up as many times as we need to figure out the dialogue. I hate being lost.
My wife and I also got on a jag about 5 years ago and bought the
DVD's of all the BBC British crime series.
More training: Fawlty Towers and Black Adder on DVD
****** and Four Weddings and a Funeral first got me started. Then Hot Fuzz, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Billy Elliot, Love Actually, About a Boy, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones Diary, Layer Cake, Green Street Hooligans, ...

Its funny but I grew up surrounded by quite a few dialects, (some were more like different languages). The ability to desypher them seems to stay with you forever
Like the Pikeys in lock stock and ****** (yes they do speak like that) the ones I have trouble with the most are from the Newcastle area and the Belfast area, both of these are in the UK

. Taggart used to be on here and I'd spent more time translating for her than watching the show myself!
