Cbrf4i-How to fix a coolant leak?
Hello. I recently crashed my bike, it wasnt anything major, I was going for a turn and I lost traction before I could complete it. Went into a curb at about 30-35mph. The bike was leaking coolant but I was able to ride it home and it's been sitting in the garage ever since. So I was wondering what the process would look like for getting that fixed up. I've never wrenched on a bike before but I've worked on all my cars so I'm not new to wrenching on vehicles. I also have a mystery bolt that came off the bike and I'm curious where that came from.
Hi and welcome!
It's never too late to learn wrenching. First step is get official factory service-manual. Has step-by-step instructions how to troubleshoot and fix anything.
For mystery bolt, simple matter to look over entire bike and see where there's a hole with no bolt. Most likely near area with crash damage. Start from there and go in expanding circles. You'll find that TYPE of bolt varies depending what it's holding on. Bodywork bolts tend to be domed allen-key type bolts. Engine-bolts tend to be larger hex-head bolts. Etc. Look for other bolts of similar design to one that fell off.
Coolant leak... clean off entire bike to factory-fresh showroom condition, not a spec of dust or lint on it. Then run engine and look for where new trail of coolant comes from. Trace it upwards to source. Might need to stop and re-clean bike to spotless showroom condition with not a spec of lint or dirt on it. Then start up engine again and pick up where you were tracing leak last.

Thank you. I ended up finding the mystery bolt (it was from my mirror lol) and I found the leak as well. I'll probably start a new thread for that though since I'm seeing no info on it using the search feature
