Start with the easiest/cheapest things and work your way up-

the most basic questions (and I am not trying to insult you) this happens to be some of the easiest things to overlook
-kill switch?
-full choke?
-in nuetral?

also- if you have a trickle charger- make sure your battery is completely charged- that was why my 900rr didn't start after a long winter (but the lights still came on and it turned over)

Only other piece of advice, turn the choke on, hit the button, wait till it starts. Don't try & start it by using the throttle, your just flooding the engine at that point
