Default dyno tuning question about altitude

a buddy of mine has a motorcycle shop in western NC which i think he is around 2,000-3000 ft above sea lever..(he is right near deals gap if u know where that is) but he can tune my bike when i go on my motorcycle trips down there but i live in upstate ny where its about 600-1000 ft above sea level....i have a 954 so since its FI does it matter where u get it tune....he said it should be fine but just wanted to hear it from someone else.

It will work either way... the computer usually does a good job compensating for the change... however I wouldn't think that the tune would be accurate when you get to where you normally live all the same. The figures would be off. This isn't going to hurt anything... but I would think that if you dyno'd and checked it back out when you got home that it wouldn't match what you had done at the higher (1-2 THOUSAND feet mind you) altitude. But who knows... at the lower it might run even stronger!

Default RE: dyno tuning question about altitude

i'm sure it would put up higher HP numbers at lower altitudes as longs as my air/fuel ratio was good at either level that would be great..which i was thinking like u that the ecu would be able to adjust to the level but just wanted to hear some other peoples thoughts
