I have a 1987 CBR 600F1 Hurricane. Only has 14500 original miles on it and it runs like a charm. I'm having a very odd brake issue though. Periodically the front brake will start to engage by itself. This is even if I haven't used the front brake. I can be riding down the road and the bike will start to loose speed as the front brake starts to grab by itself.

You can release the pressure on the front brake by cracking the bleed valves on both sides ( only a very small amount of fluid comes out ). The brake will then be fine for an indeterminate amount of time.

Obviously this is now a safety issue and I don't want to ride the bike when it could do it at high speed at virtually any time.

Anyone have any ideas?

 

I had a friend with this problem about a year ago. If I remember correctly, I believe the brake handle itself was bad & he replaced it.
