Default brake issue please help

hi guys i really need some help or advice.

i have had a front brake issue for quite a while and cant get to the bottom of it.

the lever comes far back close to the bar and i get pulsing through the brake yet still have good braking power just no feel, the lever is fully adjusted.

i have changed the fluid, pads, done a master cylinder rebuild to no avail.

the system has no air in and no sign of leaking from calipers.

the discs are 4mm each so only half worn. and no obvious warps or damage.

i need to decide which route to take as i do not want to pay out on discs if they are fine same with caliper etc.

could this be brake hose expanding????

anyone had this before?

thanks mark

If the rotors are even slightly warped you will get pulsing, when the lever is squishy that is when the lines are expanding. Another thing, just like on a car make sure your wheel is on correctly and torqued to spec.

yeah I said this in the other post on my thread, for me, I think there's possibly a tiny leak maybe on the brake hoses or just simply knackered... HEL is your weapon my friend. Mine are epic. Cheers for CJardine for shaming me into buying them lol

Remember that used OEM brake lines were made in '99-'00 so even if the bike sat for a long time they are still old. But SS lines feel great once you get used to the added feedback/response from the wheels. I would re-check your rotors for warp and reinstall the wheel, torquing everything correctly first. I know it sucks but pulling the rotors off and using *new* rotor bolts is cheaper than buying new brake lines and finding that the problem is still there. If you do end up getting SS lines though, any of the name brands are good just stay away from eBay specials (its your life that you are entrusting to some no name Chinese co.). HEL is good, I like Speigler because you can rotate the banjo fittings to prevent twisting and binding of the lines.

Edit: Also clean the pads and rotors really good with brake clean. if there is anything on the rotors that can give feedback into the lever as well.

I've got a full set of front and rear RED steel braided hoses from Venhill mate, if you want a deal on them? Save selling through eBay? £45 for the set inc P&P if you fancy them!!! They're not the transparent ones like I have, they're solid red over the braiding BUT are very sweet and save yourself ALOT of cash. Can post puccie if you need? Let me know... as will be advertising them later today on eBay.
