ok guys here is the problem. my brake lights work when i push the brake lever in but just rideing or sitting there it's not on anymore i recently got the motor swaped out but that shouldn't have anything to do with that should it. is it the fuse or can the bulbs be blowed out what any help would be nice

 

If it was the bulbs the brake lights wouldnt work, its the same bulb. Check the fuses and double check your wiring. If you still have the stock connectors make sure that the connection is good. If you have a voltmeter you can take a reading on just the running light wire with the bike on and see if its even supplying voltage.

Edit: Forgot there are 2 filaments in the bulb. You can check the bulb to see if they are blown but I doubt thats it. Since both would have to have blown at the same time.

 

its a dual filament bulb. could be very possible that the second brighter one is burnt out.

check the bulbs

 

Hence the reason I added the edit... I highly doubt that its the filament on the bulbs since that would be one hell of a coincidence.

 

interested as well, same problem i am currently having. 94 cbr 900. bulbs arent the problem on mine. looked over wiring and nuthing seems out of wack. lemme know how this goes.

 

Maybe the problem its under your seat, check if there is a wire that cuts the light when you sit on it could be a broken wire, I dont know if you understand me

 

The rear running lights are connected to the front turns/running lights... are the front running lights working?

 

okso it took me for ever to find where the problem was and it was fromthe way we put all the wires back on after the motor swap had to re wire the tail lights because the tail section was cutting into it and was shorting it out

 

I know this is somewhat of an old thread but "stretch15" did you literally rewire it, or just moved it around a little?
And did it connect directly to the battery?
sorry to bring this back but i'm having the same issues.

 

What have you done recent to the bike for the brake to go out?
