UNIVERSAL FUEL PUMP NOT WORKIUNG ON HURRICANE. pleease help
ok so ive been running my hurricane with no fuel pump at all for a while and in high gear i cant seem to get enough fuel and it bogs intermittently.
i bit the bullet and spent 50 bucks on a universal fuel pump from an autoparts store, rated at 2-3.5 psi.
installed it and started it.
it starts running all sh*ttily and was smoking out the exhaust,
so im assuming its running really rich.
so im pretty pissed about the 50 bucks i wont be getting back.
any advice from anyone would be greatly apreciated.
thanks.

curious though why is this happening? how would this be different to the factory pump.
i feel like if i spend another 130 on a factory one its going to do the same thing.

What color was the smoke ? ( white = to much fuel .... black = oil burning )
I agree that you prolly are better with an OEM one .... they should be available on Flebay ...
BTW ....If this is the same issue that you posted on the 600 board , may I ask a stupid question ....? DID you strip and clean the carbs before you put the fuel pump on ....

do you recommend buying used on ebay? seems like a shot in the dark as far as how well it will function. and there not selling for much less than a new one. cheapest one i found was like 120 or sometihng.
does anyone know of a site selling new jdm parts for cheaper than cheapcycleparts?

Personally I like to grab new parts , but lets face it , fuel pumps don't die that often really , so a used one should be ok ...
Make an offer on an Ebay one down around the 100 mark and see what they say ...?
All this really depends on if you have the few extra bucks lying around of not for the new one .?? if you have a few extra bucks to spend , don't **** with used parts .... but if not , hey , chances are better than not that they will be fine ....
