Default Tyre repair kits

I've had a look at a few tyre repair kits for use "on the road"... apparently the screw in rubber plugs are old school, now there's a new type that may need the hole in the tyre made larger for them to work... it still comes with a gaugeable regassing co2 cylinder and stuff.

The kit I am looking at getting is AU$42... any links or recommendations on any kits anyone has experience with would be appreciated.

If you don't have a tyre repair kit with you when you are more than 50km from your favourite bike shop... I am telling you now... you will regret it!

Default RE: Tyre repair kits

I have heard of people doing this...my neighbor even repaired a tire with a plug (that's it) w/o removing it from the rim...but a lot of dealers/shops, especially in Indy, won't even touch a tire due to "liability". They will always say buy new. But if you are out and 50 away from a shop, doing this to a bike tire really shouldn't be any different that on a car.

I am having the same problem right now. I called the dealer and they said buy a new tire. The hell of it is, they are new.I am going to try the mushroom plug kit.
