New Tyre

RE: New Tyre
The 170 is the standard size for the rear, I believe a lot of people fit a 180 but I think the 170 retains the handling the way its meant to be. I use michellin power pilots on mine and have certainly no reason to complain. Don't take long to warm up and it certainly hasn't lost grip with me yet. Feels much more sure footed than the bridgestones that were fitted when I got the bike, however they did have no tread left ;o)
Cheers,
Kev.

RE: New Tyre
I thoight the Polit Powers were ****.
Yes they warm up quickly and have a profile that suit relaxed riding, but I found when riding the bike really hard they start to squirm around and get too hot. Also ****house in the wet and not a long life.
I am usiing the BT002R's at the moment. They are a very sporty tyre and have almost zero tread pattern on the edges of the tyre so are close to useless in the wet., but they stick like **** to a blanket, have a profile that is suited to agressive experienced riding and also have a stiff sidewall for us heavier types.
I have heard very good things about the dunlop qualifiers, but I dunno's anyone who has used them on such a heavy bike. But they will be my next purchase to try them out.
Look at how many k's you do in a week. What percentage is hard riding, fast cruising, commuting. If you are mostly comutting with the odd hoon then you are wasting your time with tyres like the BT0002. Better off with Avon 45/46 ST, Z4 or Sportecs etc. My bike now is almost entirely used for hard riding with time allowed to get the tyres up to temp so I stick to the race ompounds. But they are not very forgiving.
