Tachometer problem
I have this problem with the speedo/tach on my 600rr. When you turn the key to the on position, the values on the speedo and tachometer go all the way up to maximum and return to zero. Then you start the bike and all is fine.
BUT...
The next time you turn the bike on, the tach needle goes up and stays at 16,000 rpms. When you start the bike, the needle acts as if 16k rpms is 0. So the bike still counts revs - it just goes in a complete circle.
Then, if you start the motorcycle again, it does the same thing - only this time, it acts as if 7,000 rpms is the 0. Once idling, it still counts revs.
And the next time you start the bike, it goes back to 0 just like it did the first time. It does this pattern exactly. Every time.
Anyone have some insight as to why this happens? How about fixing it? Nothing else acts out of the norm.
