Is there any special steps I should take to store my bike during winter?

All winter long? Sounds good to me. How shall I expect it to handle in the snow?

Make sure you have good tires and consider adjusting your speed and attention for braking distance, black ice, etc.. I am not putting mine away. There will be some good days for riding still.

Can anyone Elaborate on this "Change the engine oil and oil filter. For the winter I use the cheapest car oil I can find. I change the oil just because I don't want the old oil with all the combustion products in it sitting in the crank case over the winter. In the spring before I start the bike I change the oil again with good oil."

I got it from one of the replys in this post. I am due for a oil change but I'm wondering if I should do it before I store it for winter or after winter before riding season starts? Whats best?

I just fill the tank clean it up from head to toe inc the air filter etc... Open up the garage door once a week and let it run until it reaches normal operating temp. I only wish I could ride all year, but -20 to -30C is kinda cold...
THX
What do everyone else do for winter?

Always ALWAYS! change oil before the winter, and then change it again after the winter is done!

The oil in there now has particles in it. And allowing it to settle for the winter is bad for your engine. You can put motorcycle oil in the bike before the winter, but try not to use the really expensive stuff, and then your going to want to change it again after the winter. With a fresh dose of synthetic.
