Definitely sounds like your steering head is over-tightened or bad bearings. More likely just overtightened.

Just wanted to update you guys and thank you for the assistance. I got the service manual in and actually got outside and got acquainted with the bike. I started with the advice for checking the tire pressure and wham although it looked fine when I put the gage on it. the front tire pressure was about 11psi. Obviously the problem also the rear tire was about 13psi so I filled them up and wham the bike rode like a charm. I have since taken the bike half apart and feel much more comfortable with its mechanics. The clymer's manual I purchased walks you through everything in like baby steps.



So again, thanks for the advice!
